My practice is all about observation, analysis, and response to the questions that are rooted at a local scale but affect larger social, urban, and ecological issues. Through research, experiments, and permanent projects, I try to learn new ways to collaborate, create new knowledge, and build healthy places that respect their environment.
IPMA International Photography and Media Art Festival
Life Stories
2024
exhibition design
What can a life story be and how can it be told in an inclusive, sensitive, and humane way, reflecting the authenticity of life? These and similar questions are asked in this year’s International Photography and Media Arts Festival. The theme of the festival "Life Stories" encourages us to perceive media as a tool that gives us the freedom to reflect, rather than a cage that restricts our thinking. The festival is enriched by the exhibition of the coloured archive by Antanas Sutkus, highlighting the festival's emphasises on the variety of life forms, loudly claiming the theme of this year’s festival.
Currently closed for renovation, Mykolas Žilinskas Art Gallery, a highlight of post-modernist architecture in Kaunas, offered lavish, yet abandoned spaces for this exhibition. While in previous years its spaces were inhabited by multiple cultural events trying to benefit its neglect and experiment with new spatial elements, it, nevertheless, felt valuable to recreate a more sophisticated atmosphere for this festival, underlining its architecture and the original function of a gallery.
